Fall is in the air! October is a check-the-weather-twice-a-day type of month. Our first light frosts usually happen in mid to late October. I am always trying to get a few more days of fresh tomatoes and hoping that my carrots and fall peas will be ripe before the first hard freeze. It’s time to break out the fleece row covers and bring in tender perennial porch plants, like citrus trees. In short, one last busy burst before the quieter winter season starts.
Here is my most recent October garden checklist. Hope it helps you get everything tucked in before your first frost!
